01 / Your life begins here

Your starting point is given. Your next decision is yours.

Create a resident with a random name and origin, or customize their name, gender, story language and seed. You may begin in a Nest, the Backstreets or the Outskirts. Read your birth record, then follow the seasons into school, work and the choices of adult life.

Will you become a company clerk, a Fixer, an artisan or a researcher?

These are paths in the free game. Your origin, attributes and decisions affect what is available; no career or ending is guaranteed.

Same home. Two independent games.

How to play City life

01

Create a resident

Start randomly or open the customization form. A seed sets your starting point. Choose the story language before beginning; changing the interface language later keeps that life’s original narration.

02

Live through the seasons

Read events and choose how to respond. Major decisions stop the clock. Pause when you want more time, increase speed or enable automatic choices. Each action can change several attributes at once.

03

Keep your life record

Your progress saves in this browser. Return to the archive to continue a life or review a completed one. Export a backup before clearing site data, or replay the same seed with different decisions.

Choices have consequences

Every resource has a cost.

Health, sanity, resources, connections and reputation affect a resident’s path. Work, illness, relationships and unexpected events create trade-offs. Career choices open different events; some actions need resources you may not have. A life can end early, so reaching old age is never guaranteed.

The free game uses built-in events and a seeded simulation. The same rules version, seed and sequence of choices reproduce the same outcome. Names and interface language do not change those rules.

Play a complete life for free.

You can create residents, play the built-in events and career paths, finish lives and keep local archives without signing in or paying. Optional story upgrades add a separate narrated experience and cloud saves. They use an account and a one-time purchase; free local play stays unlimited. A free City save does not transfer into an upgraded story.

Before you step into the city

How is City life different from the original 1 in 8 Billion game?

The original begins with a real-world birthplace drawn from birth statistics. City life takes place in a fictional city with its own origins, careers, attributes and events. They are independent games on the same site, and both include choices with later consequences.

Is this a limited demo?

No. The base City simulator is free and unlimited. You can play the built-in events and career paths through to a life’s ending. Optional narrated stories are a separate paid mode; they do not unlock or restrict the free simulator.

Do I need an account?

No account is needed for free City lives or their local archives. An account is needed only for optional purchases and cloud stories.

Where is my progress saved?

Free lives autosave in this browser. Use the archive to continue, and export or import records to move between browsers. Clearing site data can remove your saves, so export a backup first. Original-game saves, City saves and cloud stories remain separate.

Which languages are supported?

City life supports English, Simplified Chinese, Japanese and Korean. This Traditional Chinese introduction links to the Simplified Chinese game. A life retains its selected story language when you switch the interface language.

Can I play on a phone or offline?

The game works in a modern mobile browser. Once loaded, free play can continue offline. This is an unofficial fan-work inspired by Project Moon’s fictional setting, without affiliation or endorsement. Events and characters are fictional; the game is intended for ages 15 and up.

A new resident. An unwritten life.

Enter the city, discover where you begin and make your first decision.
