Motion Transfer
Make a short film in Motion Transfer from an illustration you can use
Motion Transfer, at motiontransfer.app, makes a new video from a character photo and a motion reference. You can start from a preset template, including the fixed trends on its trends page, or you can supply a reference video of your own.
These steps are for a short film of a fictional character. Start with an illustration you made or are allowed to use. On the template you open, read the photo slots, the model, and the credit cost, then watch the preview before you share.

Keep the simulation and the film separate
A life in 1 in 8 Billion is a fictional simulation. The birth draw uses published population statistics. The How it works page names the sources, including UN World Population Prospects 2024. Those figures describe populations. They are not the biography of the character on your screen. The name, family, work, and events in a playthrough are the game’s invented story.
This website does not export a portrait of that character. It does not send a life, a life card, or a text record to Motion Transfer, and it does not start a video for you. A downloaded life card or story is a keepsake of the fictional game. It is not a character portrait and it is not a Motion Transfer upload.
Treat hardship and children with care
This life simulator is intended for ages 15 and over. A played life can include childhood, poverty, serious illness, accidents, bereavement, and early death. Those scenes are fictional, and they can still point at painful real experiences.
If your illustration shows a child, or a moment of harm, keep the film respectful. Do not turn it into a joke, a trend, or a public clip. Do not upload a photograph of a real child. A private preview that you then leave unpublished is a complete result. Skip the film if you are unsure.
Follow these steps
Use this order. Each step depends on the one before it.
Gather files you have the right to use
You need a still image of the character and a motion source. The still should be an illustration you created, or artwork whose permission covers uploading it and making a video from it. The motion source is either a preset template on Motion Transfer or a reference video you have the right to use.
A photo or clip of a real person needs rights you actually hold. This guide does not grant those rights. Do not upload a picture or a video just because you can save it from the web.
A screenshot of this game shows the interface. Upload the illustration you prepared.
Prepare the still image
Open the Motion Transfer page you intend to use before you crop. Count the photo slots on that template and match them. Another template may ask for a different set.
Make the character easy to recognize. Prefer a clear view of the face over a tiny figure in a crowded scene. Remove anything you are not allowed to include, such as another artist’s work or a real person’s face.
If you drew the character after a playthrough, you are illustrating your own fiction. You are not extracting an official image from 1 in 8 Billion.
Choose the motion
A preset template is the first option. Fixed trends are listed at motiontransfer.app/trends. Open one trend and read that template. Its photo slots, model, and credit cost are on the template page, and they can differ from the next template.
Your own reference video is the second option. Use a clip you filmed or a clip you are allowed to use as a motion reference. Choose a motion that fits the moment you want: standing, walking, turning, or a small gesture.
The reference asks for a body movement. It does not promise that the face or the identity will stay the same. A clip from someone else’s film, dance video, or private recording is off limits unless you have permission to use it.
Read the cost and check the sound
Before you submit a generation, read the credit cost, the model, and the photo slots on the template page. If you bring your own reference, read the same details on the screen that accepts it.
A fixed trend’s finished video includes the reference sound. The preview may start muted, so turn on sound when a control is available and listen to the finished video.
If you upload your own motion reference, or you use another model or flow, the audio can differ. Read the settings on that screen and play the result. Use music only when you have the right to use that music.
Check the preview before you share
After the generation finishes, body movement and identity appearance may both change. Watch the whole preview. Compare the face, the age impression, and the action with the still and the reference you provided.
If the person or the motion no longer matches the character you intended, do not share it. Change the still or the reference, or stop. Sharing is your decision after that preview. This site does not publish the video for you.
If the preview turns a hardship or a child into a gag, stop. Leave it unpublished.
Keep the rights and the caption honest
Rights in the photo and rights in the reference video still apply after the video is generated. A finished file does not replace the permission you needed to upload those materials. Read Motion Transfer’s terms on that site before you upload. They cover the photo, the reference, and the finished video.
If you publish the film, label it as a fictional short film. Do not present it as a real person, as a prediction from population data, or as an export from 1 in 8 Billion. Population statistics can explain why a birthplace was likely inside the game. They cannot turn the character into someone who lived.
Check this before you generate
- You can name the rights you have in the still image.
- You are using a Motion Transfer template, or you can name the rights you have in the reference video.
- The still matches the photo slots on the page you opened.
- You have read the photo slots, model, and credit cost on the page you opened.
- For a fixed trend, you have checked the preview and enabled sound when a control is available.
- If this is your own reference or another model, you have read the audio settings and you have the right to use any music in the clip.
- You will watch the preview before anyone else sees it.
- A child or a painful event in the picture will stay respectful, or you will not publish it.
Questions before you upload
What does Motion Transfer do?
Motion Transfer, at motiontransfer.app, makes a new video from a character photo and a motion reference. You can use a preset template or your own reference video. Fixed trends are browsable on its trends page.
Can this life simulator send my character to Motion Transfer?
No. 1 in 8 Billion does not export a character portrait and does not send a played life to Motion Transfer. You supply an illustration you made or are allowed to use, then you open Motion Transfer yourself.
Where are the photo slots, model, and credit cost?
On the Motion Transfer template or generation page you select. The trends page lists fixed trends. Each template’s slots, model, and credit cost are on that template’s page. Read them there before you confirm.
Will the person in the photo stay the same?
Not necessarily. Body movement and identity appearance may change. Watch the preview before you decide whether to share.
What sound comes with a fixed trend?
A fixed trend’s finished video includes the reference sound. Its preview may start muted, so enable sound when a control is available and listen to the finished video. If you upload your own reference or use another model or flow, read the settings on that screen. The audio can differ. Use the music only when you have the right to use it.
What was checked
Checked on 5 November 2026 against the two public pages below. A fixed trend’s finished video includes the reference sound; its preview may start muted. Photo slots, models, and credit costs depend on the template you select. Another model or an upload of your own reference can handle audio differently, so read that screen.
